Katy Moy – Piano and Voice Instructor
Katy Moy has been singing and playing music for over 20 years. Her first passion has always been singing, but she is also a trained pianist. After high school, she continued to pursue music at the University of Southern Maine (USM), as well as a semester abroad in 2005 at Universidad de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, studying world music. While at USM, Katy studied both classical and jazz, voice and piano, performed in the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra on upright bass, USM Percussion Ensemble, and various vocal jazz combos, a capella groups, and ensembles. She finished her degree at USM in December of 2007. She has adjudicated for Maine vocal jazz festivals such as Maine Jazz Allstate and Central Maine Jazz Districts. In addition to professionally performing as a jazz artist, Katy is a DESE certified teacher in Vocal, Instrumental, and General Music. She established The Katy Moy Experience in 2011 and currently teaches piano and voice students, as well as K-3 elementary music education. As a teacher, she strives to educate her students about the importance of technique, aural training, music theory, music history, and last but not least, fun.
